Dr. Alan Hart (1890-1962) was an American physician, novelist, and trans man. Hart devoted his professional life to the study and treatment of tuberculosis, particularly its diagnosis via X-ray. He was also the author of four novels on medical themes and a nonfiction book about X-rays. As a child, Hart presented as a boy when possible, and published his writing using his initials or the name Robert Allen Bamford. During his education, he wore traditionally feminine clothing before adopting a male identity permanently in his 20s. Hart began medically transitioning during medical school and lived as a man from the late 1910s until his death."],"mime_type_tesim":["image/jpeg"],"resource_type_tesim":["Still Image"],"rights_tesim":["No known copyright"],"language_tesim":["http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/iso639-2/eng"],"isPartOf_ssim":["g732d940f"],"isMemberOf_ssim":["ft848r07b"],"date_issued_tesim":["1911"],"genre_tesim":["Clippings"],"genre_ssim":["Clippings"],"flagged_tesim":["No explicit content"],"lcsh_subject_tesim":["http://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh85040989","http://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh85149058"],"lcsh_subject_ssim":["http://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh85040989","http://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh85149058"],"dta_subject_primary_searchable_tesim":["Education","Partners of transgender people","Trans men","Yearbooks"],"dta_subject_alt_searchable_tesim":["Schooling","Instruction","Pedagogy","Children--Education","Education of children","Education, Primitive","Human resource development","Students--Education","Youth--Education","Annuals","Year-books"],"date_start_dtsi":"1911-01-01T00:00:00Z","date_end_dtsi":"1911-01-01T00:00:00Z","date_issued_search_ssim":["1911"],"is_shown_at_tesim":["https://specialcollections.lclark.edu/items/show/96"],"is_shown_at_ssim":["https://specialcollections.lclark.edu/items/show/96"],"hosted_elsewhere_ssi":"1","language_label_ssim":["English"],"has_thumbnail_ssi":"true","blacklight_display_ssi":"generic_file","has_file_content_ssi":"true","_version_":1860198608718004224,"timestamp":"2026-03-20T16:20:36.549Z","score":1.0}],"facets":[{"name":"dtalimits","items":[{"value":"ex_fa","hits":1,"label":"Exclude Finding Aids"}],"label":"Limit"},{"name":"creator_ssim","items":[],"label":"Creator"},{"name":"dta_all_subject_ssim","items":[{"value":"Education","hits":1,"label":"Education"},{"value":"Partners of transgender people","hits":1,"label":"Partners of transgender people"},{"value":"Trans men","hits":1,"label":"Trans men"},{"value":"Yearbooks","hits":1,"label":"Yearbooks"}],"label":"Topic"},{"name":"dta_other_subject_ssim","items":[],"label":"Subject"},{"name":"dta_dates_yearly_itim","items":[{"value":"1911","hits":1,"label":"1911"}],"label":"Date"},{"name":"genre_ssim","items":[{"value":"Clippings","hits":1,"label":"Clippings"}],"label":"Genre"},{"name":"subject_geographic_ssim","items":[],"label":"Location"},{"name":"language_label_ssim","items":[{"value":"English","hits":1,"label":"English"}],"label":"Language"},{"name":"collection_name_ssim","items":[{"value":"Alan Hart Collection","hits":1,"label":"Alan Hart Collection"}],"label":"Collection"},{"name":"institution_name_ssim","items":[{"value":"Lewis \u0026 Clark College","hits":1,"label":"Lewis \u0026 Clark College"}],"label":"Institution"},{"name":"subject_geojson_facet_ssim","items":[],"label":"Coordinates"},{"name":"publisher_ssim","items":[],"label":"Publisher"}],"pages":{"current_page":1,"next_page":null,"prev_page":null,"total_pages":1,"limit_value":15,"offset_value":0,"total_count":1,"first_page?":true,"last_page?":true}}}
