Processing Photographs from Alison Laing
One of our favorite collections to process has been the Alison Laing Photographs Collection. It was fascinating to see visual images of the events and activists that we have been reading about in the materials on the DTA. Seeing influential members of the trans community such as Alison Laing, Dallas Denny, and Ariadne Kane put faces to the names for us and we had a lot of fun identifying and researching the details of the photographs. Something we found particularly noteworthy was the inclusion of photos of Dawn Wilson and Dr. Marisa Richmond, two black trans activist trailblazers. The collection of photographs reflects Alison Laing’s life in a special way, highlighting her leadership, travels, and personal and professional relationships.
