Download the full-sized PDF of Lou Sullivan diary, 1961-1963

Lou Sullivan's diary for 1961-1963, detailing various childhood events from Sullivan's life as a 10- and 12-year-old. Sullivan apparently gave up on the diary in 1961, then resumed using the same volume with preprinted dates in 1963. As a result, the diary switches between 1961 and 1963 events, and there are no entries for 1962. Some entries have been partially erased or removed by Sullivan. Louis Graydon Sullivan (1951-1991) was a gay trans man from Milwaukee, WI who lived much of his adult life in San Francisco. A diarist, amateur historian, and administrative assistant, Sullivan is best known for the detailed and thoughtful diary he kept from childhood until his death from AIDS at age 39.
