Lessons Learned from Letters to the Editor
Many of the periodicals that we process dedicate multiple pages to letters to the editor. Over time, we have come to recognize common themes in these letters and understand their importance. The people who write these letters share their personal stories about transitioning, ask for tips on makeup and fashion, weigh in on issues of politics, or discuss their relationships with partners and family members. Throughout time and around the world these contributions reflect common desires for acceptance and community. Check out illuminating letters to the editor in collections such as The Tartan Skirt, Fanfare, LadyLike, Letters from Female Impersonators, and TransSisters: The Journal of Transsexual Feminism.
